Prime Big Deal Days are back!
We don’t have long to wait for the next big Amazon sales event. Amazon is bringing back Prime Big Deal Days this October.
What are Prime Big Deal Days?
They’re typically a 48-hour sale that often happens in July or October, exclusive to Prime members. Shoppers can get exclusive discounts from big brands or businesses that take advantage of the high volume of traffic that comes with a sales event.
Why should my business get involved?
The October Prime Big Deal Day event is a lesson in perfect timing. It’s the time of year when people typically start looking for gift ideas, plus it doesn’t affect the 30-day trailing prices once the event ends. Essentially, this means it shouldn’t cut across the promotions you have lined up for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This makes it an ideal opportunity to get some big seasonal sales before you go full-out for November.
How can I get involved?
Whilst they haven’t announced the exact dates yet, it’s a good time to start preparing. Aside from making sure you have all your inventory in place, there are a couple of things you should consider:
Deals
Here are the types of deals that you could offer your customers:
- Lightning Deals – time-limited promotions, usually 2-6 hours or until inventory runs out. You can usually only have one active Lightning Deal at a time, so planning is key. They can help improve conversion rates as they have a sense of urgency, increase brand awareness as you’ll be promoted on the Amazon Deals page, as well as help clear excess inventory.
- 7-Day Deals (or Best Deal) – similar to Lightning Deals but with a longer promotional period, meaning your product and business get more visibility on Amazon’s website.
- Bundles – listings that combine two or more complementary products into a single package, offering customer convenience and potentially more profit for your business.
Setting up deals can take some time. However, provided you meet the requirements, they are very beneficial, especially as Prime users often get early access to Lightning and 7-Day Deals ahead of the event. All deal options are laid out on the Deals page clearly so you can manage each event window.
Amazon Advertising
The competition is high during peak sales events so you need to prepare in advance to ensure you secure your desired Amazon advertising. You can choose from:
- Sponsored Product Ads – Cost-per-click ads that promote individual product listings.
- Sponsored Brands – Cost-per-click adverts that help customers discover brands and direct them to product pages or brand stores.
- Product Display Ads – automatically generated ads to reach audiences based on relevant Amazon shopping interests.
Of course, advertising and deals do come with an additional cost. However, with the high traffic and possible conversion rates that come from Prime Big Deal Days, it’s something to consider. Have you got room in your marketing budget to help you stand out from the competition?
