New AI-Powered Personalised Interests on Amazon
Amazon is on the path to making online shopping as easy as possible. After introducing Rufus, AI Shopping Guides and review highlights, you can now shop using personalised Interests on Amazon.
What are personalised Interests on Amazon?
Amazon wants to simplify product discovery, automate finding new products and build their customer’s confidence in shopping on Amazon. It’s all about convenience.
The personalised Interests tab on Amazon uses large language models (LLMs) to automatically translate everyday language into queries and attributes, which traditional search engines process and turn into product recommendations. It searches in real-time through Amazon’s products based on your selected interests, notifying you of any that may be relevant.
How do I use it?
Currently only available on the app and mobile website to a selection of U.S. customers, you simply tap the ‘Me’ tab, then select ‘Your Interests’.
You then enter a detailed description of what you’re looking for. This can include specific products, colours, prices and more. For example, you could write, ‘I am looking for feminine energy and aesthetic in home décor. Something which is romantic, soft, delicate and playful or cottage-like whimsy home goods“. The personalised Interests tab will then provide you with relevant results.
You can enter more than one interest to suit your different needs. Personalised Interests on Amazon then autosaves and works behind the scenes to show you new items as they come in.
How does the Interests tab help me as a business owner?
This new AI technology is another excellent way for your products to get in front of relevant customers. In turn, this not only increases your brand visibility but also your potential conversion rates.
There is no guarantee you can be included in the Interests tab, and currently no advertising options, so it does seem a bit potluck. However, this does mean it’s not done on a priority basis. The best way to give your products a chance of being recommended is to make sure your product listings are up-to-date and thorough. This includes high-quality images, thorough bullet points and product descriptions, and most importantly, using the correct keywords. This is absolutely integral with the Interests tab, as it works entirely based on a customer’s keyword input.
