Images have always been an incredibly important part of the Amazon listing process, and now even more than ever! As of today, January 31st, multiple selling partners Amazon images will now be used on product listings.

What does this mean?

Don’t panic! It doesn’t necessarily mean Amazon will be flooding your listings with other seller’s competing products. At least, not quite…

On a product listing, there should be a minimum of 3 images. These need to include:

  • One with the product on a white background
  • One with the product in an environment
  • One with the size and fit information

These are the minimum requirements. Ideally, of course, you would have more, especially as you can have up to 7 images per listing to show off your product (or 6 if you include a video). If there are any listings that are missing these 3 basic images, Amazon will automatically add images from other selling partners similar products. They have advised in their update that this is ‘to help customers make informed purchase decisions.

Yes, that does mean you’ll need to check you have all your Amazon images up to date. If you don’t, you may suddenly find somebody else’s images on your listing. You can get other images removed if they are incorrect by contacting Selling Partner Support, but we expect you’ll need to be able to provide alternative images that match the criteria required.
